Norton, a Member of the firm’s Energy practice group, has been appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Advisory Committee for the Washington & Jefferson College Center for Energy Policy and Management.
The Center for Energy Policy and Management provides opportunities for scientists, industry leaders, elected officials, advocates and citizens to shape policy related to the country’s full array of energy sources while working to minimize environmental impact and promote economic growth.
The Center will spotlight its inaugural Energy Summit at the Olin Fine Arts Center in Washington, PA on April 23, 2012. The event, titled “Taking Control of Our Energy Future,” will cover issues related to various forms of energy such as natural gas, solar, wind, nuclear and coal, as well as how to balance the opportunities and challenges facing the nation to arrive at a comprehensive and sensible energy policy. Also at the Summit, Washington & Jefferson College will unveil its Energy Index, an interpretive tool for measuring the nation’s progress toward energy independence and security.

At Eckert Seamans, Norton focuses his practice on energy, oil & gas, utilities, and alternative clean technologies, as well as in regulatory and compliance matters. He recently established and chairs the firm’s newly created Natural Gas Vehicle Group. Norton also advises clients involved with natural gas exploration and pipeline matters in the Marcellus Shale and other shale plays as well as wind and solar system projects, and various generation plant construction projects. Having previously worked in the industry for many years as a senior in-house counsel to one of the nation’s largest electric and natural gas utilities and a General Counsel to a global manufacturer, he also has experience with handling general corporate matters, commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, enterprise risk management, corporate governance, strategic planning and general litigation.
