Eckert Seamans Cherin and Mellott, LLC is pleased to announce the promotion of four attorneys: Ann B. Cairns, Marcia L. DePaula, Peggy C. Heminger and William T. Polaski were elevated to Members (partners) of the firm, effective April 1, 2010.
“We are very pleased to name Ann, Marcia, Peggy and Will as Members,” said Timothy P. Ryan, Eckert Seamans’ Chief Executive Officer. “They each have earned advancement as a result of their hard work, strong client relationships and their consistent contributions to the success of our clients.”
Ann Cairns, a Member in the firm’s Philadelphia office, focuses her practice on the defense of professional malpractice claims, complex insurance coverage issues and appellate practice. Her health care background, including roles as the Clinical Coordinator of the Head Trauma Rehabilitation Program at Sunrise Rehabilitation Hospital and as the Assistant Chief of Occupational Therapy at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, is a valuable asset to the defense of health care providers. Ann earned her J.D. and M.S. from Temple University and her undergraduate degree, with honors, from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Marcia DePaula, a Member in the firm’s Southpointe office, represents hospitals, manufacturers, and corporate clients in all aspects of labor relations. Before joining Eckert Seamans, she served as a Senior Deputy Attorney General with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Bureau of Consumer Protection, and was later appointed Attorney-in-Charge of the Pittsburgh Regional Office of the Bureau of Consumer Protection. Marcia earned her J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and her undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh.
Peggy Heminger, a Member in the firm’s Pittsburgh office, has a general corporate law and transactions practice that includes mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, commercial contracts, securities law compliance and other transaction-related matters. She regularly assists an international hotel management company in drafting and negotiating third-party management contracts, joint venture agreements and related mortgage financing documents, including agreements for subordination of management fees. Peggy earned her J.D. from the Vanderbilt University Law School and her undergraduate degree from Princeton University.
Will Polaski, a Member in the firm’s Pittsburgh office, focuses his practice in the area of general civil litigation, with particular emphasis in product liability litigation. He has experience in mass tort, multi-jurisdictional defense claims and issues. His practice includes the defense of major pharmaceutical companies and manufacturers of commercial products. Will earned his J.D. from the University of Southern California Law School and his undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Washington and Lee University.
